El Dorado Golf & Beach Club
The Jack Nicklaus-designed course at El Dorado, an exclusive Discovery Land Co. resort community, is marked by rolling saddled fairways, big bunker complexes and attractive green sites. Routed around four interior lakes, with water in play at several holes, the layout winds through a pair of stark canyons divided by a huge rocky hill. Holes are framed throughout by thick desert vegetation and striking rock formations.
The opening holes introduce players to El Dorado’s vast waste bunkers, stony hills and granite outcrops. The layout then heads upcountry to explore the interior portions of the community. The challenging par-3 third hole plays to an amphitheater-style green set at the base of a mountain, while the splendid par-5 ninth features a spectacular view of the sweeping fairway as it rolls along the beautiful shoreline. The infinity-edge green here appears to float on a sea of variegated blues. The downhill par-5 18th, with its panoramic view of the sea and the shoreline, provides a fitting climax to the round.
Course Highlights
- Signature hole is the short par-3 16th, its ledged green set directly above the beach and sea. The prevailing onshore breeze can misdirect tee shots.
- El Dorado is where Justin Thomas, Jordan Spieth and other PGA Tour stars play when they’re in Los Cabos
